Abstract:

In response to specific task statements, basic statistical data are provided on the Japanese Automotive industry, specific governmental and other policies related to that industry are described, and a brief evaluation of the climate for investment in Japan by foreign companies is made. As these tasks are structured provide source data for other DOT reports, Volume I is primarily a summary, and much of the information is contained in draft tables and figures in the Volume II Appendix.
