Abstract:This report documents the results of a crash test of a New York Two-Rail Bridge Rail. The New York Two-Rail Curbless Bridge Railing is a steel-beam and steel-post system on a concrete bridge deck. This was the first test of a series intended to evaluate this new bridge rail design. The objective was to see if it meets Test Level Four (TL-4) in NCHRP Report 350. In this test, an 820-kg small car impacted the bridge rail at a nominal speed and angle of 100 km/h and 20 degrees. The test results met all of the evaluation criteria for the test designated as No. 4-10 in NCHRP Report 350.
