Abstract:Sunglasses help safeguard a pilot's most important sensory asset: vision. It protects pilots from the solar radiation. The three most common lens materials in use today are optical quality "crown" glass, monomer plastic, and polycarbonate plastic. Polarized sunglasses are not recommended. The selection of sunglass frames is probably more a matter of personal preference than lens materials or tint.
