Abstract:

This brochure describes how cost-effective incident management technologies can be useful in handling traffic congestion. Embedded sensors, closed circuit television cameras, and variable message signs are examples of existing technologies that can be enhanced by incident management systems. The need for interagency cooperation is seen as a critical issue for incident management systems.
