Abstract:

This report summarizes the results from Phase 2 of the ground penetrating radar (GPR) technologies evaluation performed by the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. at the revenue service monitoring sites on the Union Pacific Railroad and Amtrak. The scope of work included evaluation of ballast fouling and moisture sensitivity of two commercial GPR systems. An evaluation of the GPR systems installed on the DOTX 218 track inspection vehicle was also performed.
