Abstract:This document presents the Concept of Operations (ConOps) for an Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) system along the Interstate-270 Corridor in Montgomery County, Maryland. The document offers a user-oriented view of the system concept. It progresses logically from a discussion of characteristics and conditions in the corridor, to an examination of the corridor’s transportation operational needs, to identification of an integrated management concept for addressing those needs. It concludes with consideration of a series of operational scenarios. The corridor measures approximately 20 miles in length and consists of a variety of transportation networks, including the Freeway Network (including I-270); the Arterial and Connector Route Network (including MD-355); the MARC Commuter Rail Network; the Metrorail Network; the MTA Commuter Bus Network; the Metrobus Network, and; the Ride On Network.
