    • Abstract:
The Idaho Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan of Idaho's long range transportation planning process sets the stage for changes in our transportation mix. The plan is about expanding options for personal transportation. Most importantly, it is about making the changes needed in Idaho's transportation system to encourage greater use of human-powered travel modes. The goals of this plan are the following: To double the percentage of total trips made by bicycling and walking in Idaho; and To simultaneously reduce by 10 percent the number of bicyclists and pedestrians killed or injured in traffic crashes. It is within this context of vision and goals that this plan has been prepared. It offers a plan of action for creating a more balanced transportation system, a system that recognizes the unique benefits of bicycling and walking to individuals as well as communities.
