Abstract:This project evaluated the performance of active noise control (ANC) and active vibration control (AVC) technologies using a GP40-2 locomotive located at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) near Pueblo, CO, to determine the applicability of ANC and AVC technologies in the rail industry. Transportation Technology Center, Inc., provided support to Techno First SA engineers during the stereo recording of the engineer and conductor ear sound positions and tachometer signal during on-track operation of the locomotive pulling a freight train at TTC. It included curved track and ascending and descending a grade on the High Tonnage Loop at the Facility for Accelerated Service Testing.
