The primary objective of this research was to evaluate the fundamental engineering

properties and mixture performance of Superpave hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures
;
in Louisiana through laboratory mechanistic tests, aggregate gradation analysis, and
;
fi eld performance. A secondary objective of this investigation was to ascertain mix
;
design variables on mixture performance. Another objective was to compare early fi eld
;
performance to laboratory engineering test results.
