Abstract:

This research will be using pavement deflections and frost gauges to determine if MaineDOT is placing

and removing weight restrictions at the proper time. In addition, this research will also investigate the use

of Freezing and Thawing Index formulas developed by other Transportation Departments to determine if

weight restrictions can be placed based on ambient temperature.
