Abstract:

This report is being forwarded to Congress pursuant to Section 6054 (c) of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA). The first Implementation Report, transmitted to Congress in June 1994, described the achievements of DOT in the ITS arena, including early activities predating official establishment of the IVHS program in 1991. This Report conveys program status since the June 1994 Report, including accomplishments, challenges and associated implications for future direction, and assumes an understanding of information presented in that Report.
