• Abstract:
  In this project, we developed an integrated database to provide new analysis capabilities ; for discovering correlations between roadway characteristics and the occurrence of ; fatality collisions. Specifically, the aim of this data analysis project was to support the ; determination of relationships between Oklahoma roadway inventory data and NHTSA ; Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data. An approach had to be developed to ; match location data from the two different coordinate mapping systems used in these ; databases. The understanding of relationships between roadway characteristics and ; fatal crashes will support highway planning decisions and improve utilization of ; available resources targeting roadway safety. Initial blackspot and systematic analyses ; were performed as well as analyses utilizing additional data sources.
