  This document serves as an overview and technical documentation for the University of Wisconsin Inventory of ; Freight Emissions (WIFE3) calculator. The WIFE3 web calculator rapidly estimates future heavy duty diesel ; vehicle (HDDV) roadway emissions for the lower 48 U.S. states. Truck emissions are estimated using two ; primary data sources: a set of regional speed-dependent emission factors and an inventory of road-way specific ; truck travel. Emission factors are from the U.S. EPA’s Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES).
