• Abstract:
  In this report the evaluation performed on the first phase of the Tranzit XPress system is presented. The system comprises of a traffic/safety control center, motor vehicle instrumentation, and a variety of off vehicle tools that communicate with each other. These include electronic tags for cargo components, radar guns, cellular communication, etc. The system was evaluated by involving motor carrier operators and incident responders. The Tranzit XPress operational test will further the knowledge on the feasibility of application of ITS technologies to promote HazMat transportation safety.
