Abstract:

The objectives of this research are 1) to identify the mineralogical properties of soil-cement bases which have heaved or can potentially heave, 2) to simulate expansion of cement-stabilized soil in the laboratory, 3) to correlate expansion with the microstructural and mineralogical properties of Winn Rock-containing soil after cementitious stabilization, and 4) to identify cost-effective stabilization agents for soils that contain Winn Rock.
