Abstract:The research described herein involved both nondestructive evaluation and destructive testing of an FRP honeycomb specimen. The specimen is representative of an FRP bridge that is to be constructed in Troupsburg, New York. The specimen was tested in fatigue at Clarkson University prior to its arrival at Tulane University. The specimen was loaded and unloaded at Tulane University on several different occasions spanning a period of four months. Strain, load, displacement, and acoustic emission were monitored. A finite element model of the specimen was developed and this model was compared to the measured displacement data.
