• Abstract:
  The report presents guidelines for implementing road weather information systems (RWIS). These guidelines will assist highway agency personnel with the planning, installation, and maintenance of road weather information systems for either ice or high-water detection. This tool provides maintenance engineers and supervisors with a step-by-step methodology through which various RWIS applications can be used to decide whether it is economically beneficial to implement an RWIS. Once the decision has been made to implement an RWIS, these guidelines can be used to assist in the implementation process.
