The analysis presents an approach to the estimation of a current airman population by broad usage categories of air transport purposes, commercial purposes, private or student purposes, and unknown purposes. Observed usage relationships among sampled airmen from the active medical certification files provided the basis from which the estimation model was defined and subsequent point estimates by usage classifications were presented.
