Abstract:In this research, a three-dimensional (3-D) tire-pavement interaction model is developed using FEM to analyze the tire-pavement contact stress distributions at various rolling conditions (free rolling, braking/accelerating, and cornering). In addition, existing friction models for tire-pavement contact are reviewed and the effect of interfacial friction on the tire-pavement contact stress distributions is investigated.
