Abstract:The Bicycle and Pedestrian Element of the Long-Range Transportation Plan aims to position Tennessee as one of the most progressive states for bicycling and walking for the next 25 years. This Plan provides a clear directive that emphasizes the continual development of transportation facilities that accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians, new policies, procedures and programs, and the development of eight new state bicycle routes. The plan includes eight components: (1) Guiding principles, goals, and objectives; (2) Existing policies and plans; (3) Existing conditions; (4) Needs analysis; (5) Proposed state bicycle system; (6) Recommended policies, practices, and procedures; (7) Policy guidance by environment; (8) Implementation /Abstract from report, p.
