This training manual describes the fuzzy logic ramp metering algorithm in detail, as implemented system-wide in the greater Seattle area. The method of defining the inputs to the controller and optimizing the performance of the algorithm is explained. Instructions are given for observing and tuning the algorithm through the user interface. Examples of how to solve various problems are also provided.
