Abstract:This program is the Commonwealth Transportation Board's plan for the use of funds anticipated to be available for ports, airports, public transit, and highway construction in the 1996-97 fiscal year. The Board also uses this Six-Year Program to distribute funds anticipated for the next five fiscal years through 2001-2002. The Board's principal objectives in developing this particular update of the program are to complete the financing of projects that are under way or completed, to upgrade the most pressing needs on the Primary System, to respond to the transportation needs of cities and towns, support public transit, and provide funds from the Commonwealth Transportation Trust Fund to upgrade ports and airports.
