Abstract:

This handbook describes notable practices used by State departments of transportation (State DOTs), metropolitan planning ; organizations (MPOs), transit agencies, and other transportation planning partners which work across jurisdictions or ; traditional disciplines in order to enhance transportation planning at a regional scale. It provides a framework for how to think ; about regional cooperation opportunities, 20 case studies of how and why peer agencies have chosen to work together, and ; tools and resources agencies may consider adapting for use in their own regions. The handbook was developed as part of ; the Every Day Counts 3 Regional Models of Cooperation initiative.
