This report provides data needed to support an assessment of the relative position of the US plastics resins industry, on a worldwide basis, in terms of its being able to support automotive manufacturing operations. The use of plastics in US and foreign automobiles is reviewed. Capacity, production and use statistics for major automotive plastics are presented. Historic and current prices for these plastics in the various countries of interest are presented and discussed in terms of the relative advantage of the US plastics resins industry.
