A full MLS consisting of a 1-deg. beamwidth +/- 60 deg. front azimuth, a 1-1/2 deg. beamwidth elevation, and a 2-deg. beamwidth +/- 40 deg. back azimuth antenna, was installed for runway 31 service at the FAA Technical Center in early March 1988. The system was procured from Allied Bendix Aerospace and designed to meet the requirements of FAR Part-171, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARP's), and the guidance accuracies in FAA STD-022b (in effect at contract award). The system replaced the old Phase Ill MLS test bed and is used to support projects requiring MLS guidance.
