Abstract:This research investigates the thermomechanical behavior of 410 stainless steel under tension, compression, and torsion across a wide strain rate range from 10-4 s-1 to 5000 s-1. The material reveals identical yielding stresses across all loading modes, however, the material exhibits more pronounced hardening under tensile loading, followed by compression, with minimal hardening observed under torsion. The compressive loading analysis accounted for physical barreling by utilizing analytical methods and reverse engineering to correct the flow stress for frictional effects. Anisotropy testing shows Lankford coefficients close to 1.0 in tension.
