Abstract:

The purpose of this presentation of 1987 OE data is to provide a foundation for the development of remedial action. The statistics presented herein are intended to provide insight into the characteristics and nature of Operational Errors. Operational Deviations are situations where an actual violation of the required separation between aircraft does not take place but the potential for an operational error is created by an air traffic controller's oversight. The focus of this report is OEs, when a loss of required separation does take place as the result of inadequate/ improper action taken by a controller.
