Abstract:

This report is the first annual edition of aviation safety statistical information for national airspace incidents and accidents. Data in tabular and graphical format are presented for near midair collisions (NMACs), operational errors (OEs), operational deviations (ODs) pilot deviations (PDs), vehicle/pedestrian deviations (VPDs), runway incursions (RIs), and aircraft accidents. Most of the major incident categories, except operational errors, total system accidents, and accident rates improved from 1992 to 1993. The report also shows some trend information for the period 1988 to 1993. Finally, some pre-1988 information is presented in the appendix.
