Concept designs of the future en-route sector control suites, fabricated in full-scale, were assessed by Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control specialists with regard to human factors considerations. Potential hardware and software enhancements of the sector control positions were simulated with mockups and used to demonstrate possible sector control operations of the future. Questionnaires and group discussions/interviews were used to obtain controller inputs.
