Abstract:

We meet today to honor those among us who have in the performance of their duties, displayed extraordinary courage or unusual merit. Their achievements warrant our esteem, for by personal heroism or exceptional effort they have distinguished themselves this Department, and the Federal service. Equally important. the extra skill and dedication of these uncommon men and women tend to inspire the rest of us. There is something disturbing about excellence and valor. They make us dissatisfied with pedestrian performance and move us to higher purpose. These superior people make all of us, thus seek to do better. These honorees well deserve our thanks and congratulations.
