Abstract:Open Roads: A Look At Freeway Incident Management - Federal Highway Administration 1991- In clear, non-technical language, this video depicts the severity of the incident problem (costing time, money, lives and bad publicity) and offers effective and practical solutions in the form of a coordinated and well-planned incident management program. Touches upon a broad range of proven, successful incident management strategies, including many simple, low-cost procedures that can be readily adopted. Emphasis is on having a management plan in place with mechanisms for rapid identification of incidents; efficient, timely and appropriate response to incidents; a contingent traffic control strategy; and communication between responders, traffic control centers, and to motorists.
