  Our purpose today is to give due recognition to those individuals in the Department of Transportation who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding performance, leadership, innovative ideas and unselfish personal courage. These exceptional few, through their tremendous dedication, their constant quest for excellence, and their sincere concern for others have attained high levels of achievement and have had significant impact on the fulfillment of the Department's missions. Their attitudes and devotion have been highly conductive to the creation of an atmosphere of dedicated public service and humanitarianism among those people around them. Thus, we take great pride in pausing to honor these deserving men and women, and to extend our appreciation for their contributions.
