Abstract:

Our purpose here is to recognize outstanding individuals in the Department of Transportation- men and women whose impatience with mediocrity force them to demand the most of themselves. We also pay tribute to those who have demonstrated extraordinary courage. These exceptional few serve their government and their fellow citizens well. They add to their work the mark of excellence-talent plus dedication. The contribution of the one so often brings success to the efforts of the many. People such as these are an inspiration to those around them. Whether or not they ask to lead, others seek to follow them. Therefore, it is only fitting that we pause and take this opportunity to honor these men and women. They well deserve our gratitude.
