Abstract:The objective of this project is to evaluate the performance characteristics of a solid-state Doppler very high frequency omnidirectional range (DVOR) distributor assembly. The evaluation will be accomplished through a series of comparative tests with a standard mechanical distributor. The course deviation indicator (CDI) outputs from several VOR receivers will be used to measure course bearing error with respect to accurate bearing data from the Extended Area Instrumentation Radar (EAIR) facility during orbital and radial flights. Ground check error measurements will also be made using the DVOR monitor. Data obtained from the tests using the solid-state distributor will then be compared with baseline data from identical tests using the standard mechanical distributor.
