Abstract:

The National Parts Return Program involved the voluntary submittal by independent repair shops of failed automotive components. Administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the program helped NHTSA identify safety-related manufacturing defects in design, materials, construction, or performance of motor vehicle equipment. The Parts Return Program News communicated safety recalls and recognized automotive repair shops that participated in the program.
