Abstract:HY-8 automates culvert hydraulic computations utilizing a number of essential features that make culvert analysis and design easier. An HY-8 User Manual is included with the software installation (access via 'Help' button on top toolbar) to provide important information on the technical features, capabilities, and limitations of the software.
Improvements made to this version of the software include the following: Implemented new feature: Alternative culvert design analysis. Bugfix for hydraulic jumps with improper stationing when stationing is decreasing. Bugfix WSP profile selection. Bugfix with the report generator using the wrong index. Implement feature request to modify the page orientation, margin size, and line spacing of generated reports. Implement the "Project Headwater Summary Table" report element. Added HW/D to the Culvert Barrel Summary. Added "Essential Data Report" Format. Bugfix for unit conversion on USBR VI stilling basin energy dissipator. Bugfix for the wrong Manning's n value being used in full flow in certain circumstances. Bugfix for losing the constant roadway elevation. Bugfix for iterating on very small flows. Bugfix for issue selecting a user-defined shape with embedment. Bugfix for embedded user-defined culverts losing points and display in front-view plot. Bugfix for broken-back culvert data not refreshing with changes. Bugfix for units and computations with elliptical and pipe-arch culverts. Implemented feature request for a note in energy dissipation that we have culvert protection methods in the Hydraulic Toolbox. Bugfix for interpolation method in determining the inlet control depth. Bugfix for different water surface profile data when comparing the same culvert with different stationing values. Bugfix to handle changes in virtual earth. Bugfix for column headings swapped in report. Bugfix for depressed culvert being applied to a broken-back culvert. Bugfix for designing energy dissipation with a SAF basin that did not converge. Improved the USGS Flow Type chart.
