Abstract:The Federal Radionavigation Plan (FRP) has been jointly developed by the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure efficient use of resources and full protection of National interests. The plan sets forth the Federal interagency approach to the implementation and operation of radionavigation systems. The Federal Radionavigation Plan delineates policies and plans for Government- provided radionavigation services. The document describes respective areas of authority and responsibility and provides a management structure by which the individual operating agencies will define requirements and meet them in a cost-effective manner. It replaces the DOT National Plan for Navigation, and those sections of the DOD Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Master Navigation Plan dealing with common user systems. Volume I is a summary document which delineates plans, policies, and authority and responsibility for providing radionavigation services. An integrated management plan describing how DOT and DOD will determine requirements and coordinate research, development, and implementation of radionavigation systems is provided in this volume.
