• Abstract:
  This edition of Traffic Safety Facts Crash•Stats lists the most current data on the nationwide seat belt use rate in 2024 as calculated by probability-based observational surveys conducted by the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories. In 2024 seat belt use in the United States ranged from 71.0 percent in the U.S. Virgin Islands to 98.2 percent in Northern Mariana Islands. Twenty-six States, District of Columbia, Guam, and Northern Mariana Islands achieved seat belt use rates of 90 percent or higher.
