Abstract:This project, which focuses on the hydraulics and drainage geometry at curve transitions, proposes methods to predict where hydroplaning is likely to occur and presents mitigation strategies and recommendations to evaluate the proposed strategies. This study also investigated various design considerations the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) could utilize for general hydroplaning mitigation and hydroplaning mitigation at superelevated transition areas.
