This Stage 1 SMART grant project evaluated the feasibility of deploying Network vehicle-to-everything (V2X) architectures to support low-latency applications, such as the red-light violation warning (RLVW) demonstrated by this project, that aim to reduce transportation-related injuries and fatalities and improve mobility for all users. The project deployed multiple Network V2X architectures and focused the evaluation on latency, communication reliability, scalability, and deployment readiness. If pursued and awarded, a Stage 2 SMART grant could deploy an at-scale Network V2X system.
