Abstract:

This interim report is to report on the status and performance to date of an experimental bridge deck overlay of polymer concrete consisting of 4 courses of polyester-styrene resin monomer and sand aggregate. The primary purpose of such an overlay is to bar against moisture penetrating into the top surface of the concrete and perpetuating corrosion of the reinforcing steel, and also to keep away further chloride contamination.
