Abstract:This report stems from research performed in Project 2-8-62-32, "Application of AASHO Road Test Results to Texas Conditions." Its purpose is to make available to the Texas Highway Department a recommended procedure for the design of flexible pavements. The procedure takes into account both physical and cost variables, and provides a means for making design decisions based on probable overall costs, rather than on initial construction costs alone. Physical variables are treated in terms of how they affect the serviceability-time curve of the pavement. Means for evaluating them in any given locality are presented.
