• Abstract:
  This report describes a screening tool for comparing multi-use trails (MUTs) that could compete for funding from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) or other state sources. The tool scores, based on selected geographic information system (GIS)-processed factors for which metrics are available by trail segment, are calculated in Excel using variable elective weights. The tool has been designed around an internal sample of trails provided to the researchers by VDOT, and it is available as a supplemental file to this report.
