Abstract:Research on evaluation of the roadway environment by dynamic analysis of the interaction between the vehicle, passenger, and the roadway began in 1968 and was concluded in 1974. The broad objective of the research was to develop criteria beneficial to the design of a safe highway and its roadside features. Math models and limited full-scale tests were the basic research tools to be used in developing the criteria.
