• Abstract:
  To broaden the application of real-time freeway operations systems, the Texas Transportation Institute and the Texas Highway Department, in cooperation with the U. S. Department of Transportation, began a research project entitled "Freeway Control and Information Systems." One of the objectives of the project was to develop functional requirements for a freeway communications system. Toward this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted in the cities of Houston and Dallas.
