Abstract:This project created a program to support a mobile STEM laboratory that demonstrates advanced mobility technologies, offering hands-on learning activities. The Advanced Mobility Innovation Lab (AMIL) Program inspired middle school students in rural communities to engage with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by introducing them to transportation technologies. The project team completed a series of seven tasks to identify existing programs, glean transferable “lessons learned” from others, designed a new program, and pilot tested it to demonstrate its feasibility. AMIL transitioned from concept to design, then to development and finally to implementation in November 2024. Lakeway Christian Academy hosted the pilot event that successfully demonstrated the ability to engage middle school students and promote interest in STEM through transportation technology.
