  The objective established for this project centered on the types of data that should be collected for the Depart­ment's intermodal management system and how they should be used, the identification of key intermodal issues in South Dakota, and the development of recommendations for collection and management of intermodal transportation information. The report includes reviews of pertinent literature, ISTEA intermodal management system requirements as established by interim final rule making, and recommendations as to the types of data to be collected, basic techniques to be used in their collec­tion and analyses, recommendations as to the organizational assignments that should be made, and staffing recommendations.
