Abstract:

This report is a continuation of the data series published annually since 1967 under the title, "Fatal and Injury Accident Rates on Federal-Aid and Other Highway Systems," until 1982 when it assumed its present title. It is the sixth report to Congress under Section 207 of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982. The report presents data which can be used in the evaluation of the highway safety performance of the States. The data were submitted by the States through the Highway Performance Monitoring System operated by the Federal Highway Administration.
