Collector-distributor roadways can be effective as a "buffer" facility with limited access interfacing between main lanes and frontage road development. However, both transverse and longitudinal space requirements are critical for acceptable implementation. This report summarizes several key aspects of collector-distributor freeway system design considerations and features; and then presents a case study that demonstrates an evaluation methodology.
