Abstract:A new file format to save project data was introduced in version 3.0 of the Federal Highway Administration’s Traffic Noise Model (FHWA's TNM 3.0). This file format is based on the Extensible markup language (XML) and includes a series of tags to represent objects and their parameters. The original purpose of this file format was to provide a means of exporting and importing project data from TNM 2.5 without including calculated results. In TNM 3.1, the file format was extended to include calculated results and was used to replace the database structure in TNM 3.0. In TNM 3.2, the file format was extended to include construction equipment input data and calculated results. Starting with TNM 3.1, this file format is the primary tool for saving and loading TNM project data.
